Consider the following safeguards:

Do not allow any unauthorized technicians into your home or office
Be on the lookout for any disturbance of tiles, light fittings, switches, electrical outlets etc
If a person leaves something behind in your home or office, such as a pen, return it at once or keep it in a place where it will not be able to capture any private conversations.
Do not discuss confidential information on the phone or in any area that may be bugged. Meet in person in a secure area.

A Technical Security Countermeasures survey (or TSCM survey) is most commonly known as a sweep. In order to get a sweep done, qualified personnel will need to come in to look for electronic bugging devices in your home or office. They may also identify technical security weaknesses which may lead to bugging. The sweep will consist of five main parts, to ensure that the eavesdropping detection is thorough and that all eavesdropping equipments are found:

The technicians will conduct a physical examination of the area to search for any evidence that the area has been bugged
